Morocco Imperial Cities Tour

The 10 Days/ 09 Nights desert tour from Casablanca and back to Casablanca is a comprehensive and exciting Morocco trip that will take you on a journey to discover and explore the best of Morocco's tourist attractions. This tour begins in the bustling city of Casablanca, known for its modern architecture and rich history, before heading to the cultural center of Fes via the important archaeological site of Volubilis.

As we make our way through the Middle Atlas Mountains, you will have the opportunity to experience a traditional tea with Berber nomads and camel trekking in the Sahara desert, an experience you will never forget. You'll also have the chance to see the monkeys climbing in Cedar forest and visit Ifran, known as the Moroccan Switzerland.

Continuing on the tour, we will take you to explore the beautiful high Atlas Mountains with Berber villages, centuries-old Morocco Kasbahs, Gorges, Grand Canyon, and Palm Groves. We'll also visit the Imperial cities of Rabat and Marrakech, known for their rich culture and history. In Marrakech, you'll see the famous square and medina, as well as some of the most beautiful sites of the Middle Atlas, such as Ait Benhaddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tour Plan

DAY 1 CASABLANCA – arrival

Tailored Morocco Tours staff will pick up you from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, and before dropping you at your accommodation. You will visit the Mosque Hassan 2 and Rick's Caffe.

DAY 2 Your PlCasablanca - Rabat - Assilah - tangier

Heading from Casablanca to tangier, after an hour's drive you will have the chance to visit your first imperial city called Rabat the capital of Morocco by visiting the Oudaya Kasbah and Hassan tower. Then continue to Assilah As we approach our destination, you will be treated to stunning panoramic views of these locations. Once there your guide will lead you on a walking tour through fantastic archeological places and Asilah’s Portuguese fortress. Before continuing the day to tangier the bride of the North.

DAY 3 Tangier - chefchaouen

Before starting the trip to Chefchoune our driver/guide will make sure you visited all the major sights of tangier such as the Heryclus cave, cup Spartel, and the old medina. The drive to Chefchaouen is about 4 Hours in total. You will drive through Tetouan, you will visit some attractions like the medina, the Hispano Moresque town then drives around the new city before you drive straight to blue city ( Chefchaouen ). And when you arrive in the bleu city, you will enjoy walking around the beautiful bleu streets and seeing the famous square of Outa Hammam and the trek up to the Spanish mosque.

DAY 4 Chefchaouen - volubilis-Meknès - Fes

Rise early to snap photos of the people-less streets before leaving for Fes. Stop along the way at the UNESCO-protected Volubilis ruins—the Roman's farthest reach in Africa. Wander the complex, exploring merchant homes with still-intact heating systems, temples, and many mosaics in situ. Continue on to the smaller, less busy version of Fes, Meknes, for an introduction to your first historic imperial city. The two main points of interest are the Ville Impériale (Imperial City) and the medina. Be sure to visit the Bab al-Mansour gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the Royal Stables

DAY 5 Fes sightseeing tour

All day was devoted to visiting Fez, the oldest of the imperial cities, home to the world’s first university dating from the 9th century and one of the entire medieval cities in existence. Surrounded by massive defensive walls, it seems suspended in a time warp, somewhere between the middle Ages and the modern. Here we will have our local guide in the medieval Medina you will be visiting the famous tanneries and the Karaouine mosque. After lunch, in a typical Moroccan restaurant in Medina, you’ll visit the Merenid tombs and experience a wonderful panoramic view of the city. Check into

DAY 6 FES – AZROU – MIDlet – ZIZ VALLEY – MERZOUGA

In the morning after breakfast depart to Merzouga via Ifran Moroccan Swiss style of town and cedar forests where we will stop for a while to enjoy seeing monkeys climbing the cedar trees. Then Lunch is in Midelt, “the apple capital”, at the foot of the Ayachi Mountain. We continue over the Tizi-n-Talremt pass and through the Ziz Valley, which is particularly well-known for its palm trees and the length of the oasis. All along the road, there are innumerable “ksars”, small villages of individual houses. From here we reach Er Rachidia and then Erfoud, famous for its date festival and fossils, until we got there we continue to our hotel located right next to the golden sands: The Dunes of Merzouga, after will go with the camels on the dunes to enjoy the Sunset on the dunes and to sleep in Tent (an unforgettable night.) dinner and overnight in the camp.

DAY 7 MERZOUGA – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY.

Your day will start by waking up early to see the spectacle of sunrise when the color of the dunes combines with the play of shadows to make an awesome view. Then ride the camels back to meet your guide/driver and start your day with him by Rissani where it existed one of the main traditional markets, that was in the past a station for trade’s caravans .in addition that town was the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family- in Morocco. The road passes through Erfoud the land of fossils and that would be an opportunity to see one of the many fossils mining (if you are interested). Continuing the way via Berber villages of Tinjdad to reach Todgha gorges a series of limestone river canyons, This stunning area affords an opportunity to walk and enjoy deep cliff-sided canyons. The night will be in Bomaln Dades in a nice hotel.

DAY 8 Dades Valley - Ouarzazat - ayt Ben Haddou Kasbah - Atllas mountains - Marrakech

The day will start from Bomaln Dades driving through the villages of this charming area,. Passing roses fields of Kelaa Magona known as Valley of the Roses famous for its Rose Festival in May, and via the road of a thousand Kasbahs toward Skoura oasis, then heading towards Ouarzazate known as Hollywood of Morocco, where you will stop to see the world’s largest movies studios Then the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which is the largest Kasbah in Morocco and also has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and several films have been shot there. From there start crossing the high Atlas mountains through a pass named Tizi n’Tichka, which reached an altitude of 2260m where you will stop to appreciate the mountain view before arriving at Marrakech in the late afternoon.

DAY 9 Marrakech sightseeing day

After breakfast, our local guide will take you through some of the historical sites of “The Red City,” including the Bahia Palace, the Saadienne tombs, Jamaa Lafna Square, and Ben Youssef Madrasa. Walking through the souks, you’ll enjoy the sights, sounds, and bright colors of the market. The city tour ends around 3 p.m. Then on to the new part of Marrakech and the beautiful Majorelle Gardens, created by Yves St. Laurent, before heading back to your accommodations. After sundown, we suggest you walk to Jamaa el Fna, the main square in the old city that comes alive at night with snake charmers, storytellers, merchants, and tourists enjoying the sights and sounds of Marrakech.
